I’ve been bouncing around this past week, telling friends and random people that this happened, but neglected to write a newsletter about it.
Last Friday, April 25, 2025, my licensing agreement for The Shaolin Nun was officially accepted and signed by Laguna Studios with the intent of making The Shaolin Nun available to all comic book shops in 2026. Published achievement UNLOCKED!
I’ve worked with the owner of Laguna, Laurie Foster, for several years. She came on board for Shaolin Nun as our inker on issue #2 and stayed with us through issue #4. But after a forced move and a rebuilding of her own comic book company, she was no longer held back and created this amazing new company that culminated in her getting a distribution deal.
I reached out to her to see if she would be willing to take on The Shaolin Nun as a property and help us get in stores. She agreed, we spoke, negotiated my licensing agreement, and now we’re in business together.
The current plan is to have the first 10 pages of Shaolin Nun in Laguna’s Free Comic Book Day offering next year and then making issue #1 available in July (to give folks time to pre-order the book from their local comic book shop).
And speaking of Free Comic Book Day that’s this Saturday, May 3rd, and I’ll be at my LCS, The Nerd Store, selling some of my overstock (collector’s items) and signing books.
There is still time to pick up issue #5 from Kickstarter. I have late pledges open for the digital and print release, as well as the collectible T-Shirt, until May 5. So if you missed the campaign (and many did), this is your LAST CHANCE to secure your order for issue #5.
THIS IS SUCH AMAZING NEWS, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY WICKED COOL AND WONDERFUL!!!!!
